Secret Gardens In Verona

September 28, 2016

Throwing it back to sunny Verona and one of my favourite off-the-beaten-path gems of our trip. Away from the tourist-filled old town, the Giusti Gardens provided a welcome break from the sightseeing, with the high cypress trees and slowly dripping fountains giving us some much-needed refuge from the hot sun too. The gardens are hidden from the street and you only find this haven of calm once you've passed through an archway of a pretty inexpressive building. They're also surrounded by high walls on every other side, so finding the gardens is a quest of its own (one we needed an hour of exploring for), but the view inside is worth it (plus there's a real-life hedge maze!).

Maybe it's the garden-enthusiast in me speaking, maybe it's the fact that the garden has been kept in its original state, which means that the likes of Mozart and Goethe have gathered inspiration with these very views, but this place defined Verona for me. Forget Juliet's balcony, this is the most romantic spot in Verona, providing some picture perfect city views too!

And what better to wear in one of the most romantic cities than a floor-sweeping (or in my case, street dust sweeping) skirt and a delicate top. Exactly the kind of outfit I want to wear for long walks in perfectly planned gardens, under the Italian sunshine. Forgive me for daydreaming!
_______________
