Morning sun

September 30, 2011

These pictures were taken a few days ago before school. How odd does that sound?! We had to go to school an hour later than usually and so Getter and I decided to grab a morning coffee . Getter promised me wonderful morning sun as a backdrop for these pictures, but we missed the right moment. So, as always, we settled for the old town streets. This particular one is called Short leg and I adore that it is so steep and narrow. Old town fun fact: it is said to be the most haunted street, praying monks and big ships passing through walls have been seen there.
As for the outfit..I discovered that I feature yellow in my outfits a lot, whether it's a top, tights, a skirt or a blouse, 4 out of my 10 recent looks on lookbook feature yellow on some item. But I just could not resist pairing this shirt with my trusty yellow pleated skirt. And to make things a bit more interesting, I added my studded belt. I'm a rebel, right?

I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend !

Kuldlõige

September 23, 2011

This is the last fashion week post. I hope you're not tired of them yet :)

Last week was really busy, but really fun and absolutely thrilling. I was so incredibly happy to be a part of TFW and to make you guys a part of it too. I'm sorry I wasn't able to take the runway photos myself, because if my seating was even OK(which it most of the time was), then my little camera was just awful. So I decided to use the pictures of professional photographers. I really hope you liked my little fashion week posts. And if you have any comments or suggestions, then please, don't keep them to yourself !

The last show was on Saturday. It was held at a fantastic location. It was a parking house, but it reminded me of a church with the huge glass windows and all the space ! The collection was wonderful. Liisi Eesmaa and Also Järvsoo had done a fantastic job with the dresses and Tanel Veenre had made outrageous headpieces for them. It was really futuristic and fun.

Although, my most favourite show of the whole week was still Embassy of Fashion. That's the only one that really made a huge impression on me, it gave me shivers and was overall amazing.

TFW day 4 outfit

September 20, 2011

Yes, it's another fashion week post from me. Don't worry, there's only a couple of them left, then I'm back to normal posting. Not that I would have anything interesting to post, because school is just school and nothing that fun has been going on(except for fashion week and getter's bday. yes she's in the 17  again club, at last !)

Well, this is what I wore to the last show, called Kolmlõige. Before that I went to Getter's birthday party and I needed an outfit that would be fit for both. So I just had to change the top and the shoes and I was good to go.
This is a vintage top that I bought in summer and I'd been waiting for the perfect opportunity to wear it. And it goes perfectly with the black shorts I got from my aunt the other week. The necklace is another giveaway win that I got from La Folie. Thank you so so so much for it, the necklace is wonderful.

Now I'm off to cure my sore throat with a cup of tea with honey and the season premiere of How I Met Your Mother !

thank you, thank you, thank you

TFW day 3 shows

September 18, 2011

On Friday I attended 2 shows at TFW. In my opinion it was the best day, all the shows were great and professional and the last one was outstanding. But we'll get to that :)

At the first show there were two designers. The first of them was Oksana Tandit. It was a lovely collection. The main theme was a bold polka-dot print, which was in great contract with the colours. The clothes were feminine and fun. I especially liked the colours and the fantastic cuts of the dresses. And also, the models had fabulous earrings.

Then came Kristina Viirpalu's collection. All the models wore headscarves and they reminded me of Little Red Riding Hood. I really liked the knitted dresses and the stockings were just amazing! It was also a great collection, full of feminine details. I liked the bold usage of fur and bright red!

The third show was Embassy of Fashion, which consists of three designers- Aldo Järvsoo, Riina Põldroos and Ketlin Bachmann-Põldroos. To me, it was the absolute best show of whole fashion week. The show had live music, a garage band called Junk Riot played and the models walked really powerfully. They also had a wonderful light show. And of course, the clothes were extremely wonderful ! It was all about power . The models wore outrageous headpieces by Tanel Veenre, resembling a bit of the Statue of Liberty. I really really really liked the show. Embassy of Fashion is what you would call the big guns of Estonian fashion design.
My favourite piece of the collection was the long silver dress. I can't really see myself in it, but it's absolutely the epitome of rocker chic and together with the music and lights, it stole my heart.

The absolutely wonderful designers who managed to put together the best show.

TFW day 2 shows

September 17, 2011

2 shows, 6 designers and an outrageously busy day.

The first designer, whose collection I saw was Marija Posledova. It featured lots of cut-outs and draping. The colours were mostly grey and black. Therefore it was a bit boring to watch. But I liked the make-up on the models and over-all it was a quite good show.

The next one was Inrgid Paats' show. Not to be very critical, but that was my least favourite show. Yes, the clothes were OK, actually I really liked some of the pieces, but what was the most disturbing were the models. The show had one good model, the others couldn't even walk in high heels. It took most of the attention off the clothes. The show was all about contrasts so all the outfits were different and not really unified. My favourite pieces were the pink shirt with sequins and the nude skirt with the corset top.

The third one was Diana Denissova. The beginning of the show was really promising. Lots of sequins, lace, nude colours and feminine cuts. But towards the end, I didn't like it a lot. One of my favourite items was the knitted dress, something I definitely would like to own. And the model on the first picture was my favourite, her face was always smiling and she was incredibly graceful.

The next show also had three designers. The first one of them was Natalia Jansone, a Latvian designer. I didn't really like her collection. It was also mostly black and gray, the cuts weren't that interesting and what's up with the hats ?! It was quite boring to watch, since it was not very versatile.

Then came Piret Ilves' collection. That was really sweet. I liked the cute and girly skirts, simple but elegant cuts and the colours. I especially liked the bow tie headbands, they were adorable ! The model's make-up was also very simple, I liked the fuchsia pink lips, that added more colour to the outfits.

The last designer of the day was Britt Samoson. As I said in my last post, it was definitely the best show of the day. In the beginning it had an awesome video installation, that continued throughout the show. The music was great. The models looked amazing(and could walk). The clothes were spectacular. The collection was a masterpiece. The pictures really don't do it justice, you had to be there to experience it all.

TFW day 2 outfit

September 16, 2011

Here's what I wore to the second day of Fashion Week. It gave me a great opportunity to take my pearled blouse out of the closet again. I decided to pair it with a pair of navy shorts that I got from my aunt. I'd wanted for a pair of dark shorts for quite long time and last weekend she gave me a black pair and a navy pair. Lucky me ! I also got a lot of nail polishes, also this one that you can see on the picture. It has kind of a holographic effect, which I totally adore.

I'll do a post on the shows some time later, but I can say that Britt Samoson was without a doubt the best one of the day !

Tallinn Fashion Week day 1 shows

September 15, 2011

Tallinn Fashion Week started yesterday and I'm super-exited. My life is so busy this week, but it's all worth it. I managed to make it to yesterday's last show, which was by Loomeinkubaator. It consisted of 5 different designer's collections. Since i sat at a quite bad spot to take pictures, then  I had to take them from the internet. I also don't have yesterday's outfit, sine it was kind of a last minute decision to go. But you'll see what I'll be wearing to TFW the next three days and also all the pictures from the shows that I'm attending.

The first one was Xenia Joost, who showed a wonderfully cute children's collection for next fall/winter. The models where oh-so-cute and I loved that they all had children's masks as hats. The collection was really fun and playful.

Next came Jaana Varkki's collection. It was my least favourite of the five, since it was nothing new. It used all the fabrics and cuts(batwing sleeves for example) that have been around for a long time and it wasn't very interesting to watch. Although, I loved the black headpiece on one of the models and the dress on the first picture.

Then came Lilli Jahilo's collection It was feminine and flowy and had taken a lot of inspiration from nature and autumn. It was really classical and very suitable for the stereotypical Estonian woman's style. It was absolutely beautiful, I especially liked the coats. The colours were also lovely soft fall colours.

The fourth one was Kalle Aasamäe, which was the only menswear collection. This was probably my favourite. The designer was inspired by India and it definitely showed. The men wore big necklaces and accessories and really cool summer suits.

The last collection was by Liina Stein. She had divided it into two parts. The first one was really powerful and strong, it included lots of leather and fur. It also had dresses with huge prints on them worn with red suede(!) shoes. The second part was feminine, with wonderfully flowy dresses with sequins and open backs. When I saw the dresses I thought that if I ever attended a red carpet event, then one of these dresses would be perfect for it :)

Castle in the Air

September 11, 2011

Today I visited a wonderful jewellery exhibition. It's in Tallinn's lower lighthouse, situated right next to KUMU. The jewellery is from a group of artists called Õhuloss.  Most of the pieces were absolutely magical.
It's free and still open for two weeks, so if you haven't been there already, I really recommend you to go . The exhibition closes on September 25 at 16-19 with the finissage, which is part of the Design Night, and the artists will also be present to reveal the worlds behind their works. I plan to go there, because it soundsreally interesting.

Find out more HERE.

Fashion by Feelings

September 09, 2011

Sorry for the long absence from the blog, but this first week of school has been just as difficult as I expected. Studying and badminton trainings take up most of my time and the blog has to come in third. Next week is  Tallinn Fashion Week and I'll try my best to keep up with everything. I hope that I can go to a lot of shows and I definitely plan to take lots of pictures. Is anyone planning to go ?

I want to tell you about a wonderful project that I'm happy to be a part of . It's called Fashion by Feelings and it's goal is to get more people to wear woolen garments, not synthetic pieces that are harmful to the environment.  Wool is a wonderful natural fibre, which can be used to create amazing clothes. Luckily this season's fashion trends are absolutely supporting the same cause. I bet everyone already has or definitely wants to get themselves a chunky knit to keep them warm this winter. And in our climate you definitely need one. So, I'm encouraging everyone to support this and choose themselves a garment that is made of real wool. Even if it might not be that soft, it'll keep you warm. I'm currently encouraging my mom to knit me a sweater for this winter, so I wouldn't have to buy an overpriced fake-wool knit.

Fashion by Feelings has a super lovely website, where you can upload your look and win a trip to Australia !! You can also like other looks and just by voting you can also win a 400$ Wool fashion pack. Check out their Facebook page for more information.
