A day in Helsinki

November 10, 2014

I spent last Saturday in Helsinki. During the summer I'd got two vouchers for a little day trip, so the boyfriend and I put them to good use. The day had plenty of sightseeing, shopping, good food and pretty Christmas-lit Helsinki, all of it spent of foot. The weather was classically Nordic - seemingly OK, but after a few hours freezing beyond belief.
The outfit had to correspond. I was layering with a collared shirt, my soft mohair sweater from H&M and that surprisingly warm New Yorker jacket. For a day of walking I definitely needed flats, but since it was quite cold and I'd only taken my shoes from Tartu, then my mom insisted that I wear something warmer, ahem, her sparkling ankle-wellies. Then a classic canvas tote that I got from Tartu art museum with the word "truth" on it, in Russian, with the Prada font. Always love a good pun!
Stay tuned for a post with a tips for a day in Helsinki!

Eelmisel laupäeval käisin Helsingis. Suvel olin kuidagi kaks sooduskupongi enda omandusse saanud ja lõpuks otsustasime poiss-sõbraga need ära kasutada. Terve päeva käisime ringi, vaatasime kirikuid ja muid vaatamisväärsusi, šoppasime, sõime ja nautisime juba jõulutuledes linna. Ilm oli loomulikult väga põhjamaine - esmapilgul täitsa okei, lõpuks talumatult külm.
Riietus pidi ikkagi ilmaga sobima. Seepärast paningi end kihiliselt riidesse: kraega pluus, pehme mohäärkampsun H&Mist ja üllatavalt soe New Yorkeri tagi. Kuna me kogu aeg kõndisime, siis kindlasti pidin madalad jalatsid valima, kuid Tartust võtsin ainult lahtised kingad kaasa. Koti peal on venekeelne sõna "tõde", kuid Prada kirjastiiliga. Nii lõbus!
Paari päeva pärast saate juba lugeda minu soovitusi üheks kiireks Helsingi-reisiks!

Red door

October 14, 2014

I remember, about a year and a half ago, I got my first leather jacket and posted about it [here]. It seemed so surreal to me that I would have something made of leather. I've always been the preppy girlie girl, I can't turn into a badass so suddenly, I remember thinking.
Then some time ago my mother suggested that I should buy a new one, merely for practical reasons like warmth. The other is is quite flimsy, to be honest, so one day I went shopping with my dad (look at my family dynamics, taking fashion advice from mom and going shopping with dad) and we settled on this oversized "Danny from Grease"-esque jacket from New Yorker.
Might as well become a full on leather babe now. If Sandy could, then so can I.

Not at Coachella

April 20, 2014

I'm terribly sorry for the silence on the blog. Don't worry, I haven't disappeared under a rock or dramatically fled to another country. I've actually been under a heavy load of schoolwork and gone to Pärnu for the weekend. Being in the summer capital is ever-so-teasing, because the weather actually feels like summer, tourists take over the streets and daily ice creams are a must, but in the back of my head there's still the shadow of school on Monday.
All that didn't stop me from dressing like it's the middle of summer or that I actually want to be at Coachella (I do, though), floral crown and everything. Also, how cool is that dress? I got it from Forever 21, while in Dublin, mostly because of the zip halfway through the dress. My friends thought it's ridiculously tacky, but to me, it's has the perfect 90s aura.

Flowers for no reason

April 10, 2014

I have to be honest with you, I didn't actually go anywhere in this outfit. I might wear it to a party next week, but this time it was just for a little walk and pictures. I've read articles about blog readers being mad about bloggers dressing up for no reason and bloggers losing credit for not being "believable", but come on, who even actually cares? I know I don't and if I get to stroll around Tartu in a pretty dress, I'm a happy girl.
Comments welcome below!

PS! Laupäeval müün järjekordseid kapitühjenduse vilju Tartu Kaubamajas Buduaari turul. Võite mind kohata kolmandal korrusel, tulge ostke asju ja öelge tere :)

Aced it!

March 13, 2014

Lately, the wonderful smell of coming spring has been accompanied by days of sunshine and temperatures already in my comfort zone. Amazing, right! That meant one thing and one thing only. It was time to take my leather jacket out of the closet and into the streets. Oh, how good it felt! With my trusty velvet skirt and the must-have collared shirt adorned with a few cool collar pins, it was the perfect outfit to walk around town and pretend to be completely oblivious about the actual temperature and my freezing fingers. Dear jacket, you're going to have to go back to the closet for a while, but better days are yet to come.

The first butterfly you see

May 23, 2013

They say that the first butterfly you see determines whether your summer is going to be full of fun or dull as ever. I kind of believe in ridiculous superstitions like this and luckily I saw my first butterfly a few weeks ago and it was a beautifully colourful creature. For those of you who haven't seen a butterfly yet, let the ones on my skirt make your summer as bright as possible.
On a less deep and meaningful note, this leather jacket is making yet another appearance on the blog. The thing is, that despite having gloriously summery days lately (all of which I spent at work..), it's gone back to cold and a jacket is definitely needed. Also, I realised that I've only worn it with skirts or dresses so far. I guess that the preppy girl meets the rocker style seems to suit my mood these days. Even my "I wish I was a ballerina" hair and the ear-cuff continue that cool contrast.

Taking in the spring

May 06, 2013

Two Door Cinema Club- Spring

Firstly, I feel that I need to clear something up. I received a comment on the post where I first wore this jacket that doubted the realness of my leather jacket. Indeed, it is made of faux leather, but I figured that it was a matter that didn't need any further explanations. So now you know, that no poor animal has died for the purpose of being worn around Tallinn on my shoulders.
On to more sunny talks, I have been dreaming of wearing this outfit from the middle of winter, when I received this lovely dress from Fashion Union. It's like this dress is meant for sunny spring days and morning walks in the old town. It just happened to match perfectly with my (faux) leather jacket this morning and by throwing on my ever-so-cool vintage hat, I felt so appropriate to take in the spring. Even if it was a bit too warm in my almost all-black outfit at times...
Tomorrow I have my English exam, so wish me luck!

Homme on mul inglise keele eksam, seega soovige mulle edu!

To expect the unexpected

April 26, 2013

I guess you never expected me to wear a leather jacket, but here I am, totally enjoying it. I bought it online during the coldest months of winter and now I can finally wear this lovely cropped number. Paired with the pleated skirt and my Audrey Hepburn T-shirt that I got as a souvenir, when my mom went to Italy, it is a bit unexpected. Also new in this looks are my pointy-toe brogues and that perplex cuff.
Yesterday I went clubbing for the first time in my life, so it seems that with the end of school, a lot of new things have found their way into my life alongside the slightly rebellious spirit taking over my preppy soul.
