After the postcard-perfect photo diary of my stay in Barcelona, it's time to share a few tips for those of you who might be thinking of spending some time there. 

Firstly, in such a vibrant city, Couchsurfing is definitely an option. We stayed for six nights with a Colombian-Swedish guy right on the border of Barceloneta and the Gothic Quarter which means in the freaking centre of the city. I'm sure that there are lots of hospitable and cool people willing to host you and help you save the $$ which you can spend on shopping instead!

About shopping, avoid the large Primark-hosting shopping centres (like Diagonal Mar) and go for the smaller ones instead. We did the Primark round and it only resulted in quilt about spending so much on cheap (and probably unnecessary) stuff and time we could have spent elsewhere. Instead I recommend the Maremagnum centre right next to Columbus street. It has all the nice shops like Stradivarius and Mango and is also architecturally really cool, the water around it reflects from the mirror-like walls and the hallways are actually open to sea breeze. 

Pärast seda postkaardilikku pildipostitust minu Barcelona reisist, on aeg jagada mõningaid näpunäiteid neile, kes mõtlevad ka seal aega veeta. Mõne asja kohta kirjutasin ka Õhtulehe artiklis siin, aga blogisse jätsin väheke personaalsemad soovitused.

Esiteks, niivõrd elavas linnas nagu Barcelona soovitan kindlasti couchsurfida. Me olime 6 ööd ühe kolumbia-rootsi kuti juures, kes elas põhimõtteliselt täiesti kesklinnas Gooti kvartali ja Barceloneta piiril. Ma olen kindel, et Barcas on veel väga palju külalislahkeid inimesi, kes teile oma kodu avaks ja aitaks pisut rahakest kokku hoia, et pärast ikka korralikult šopata saaksite. 

Šoppamisest rääkides, üritage vältida suuri Primarkiga kaubanduskeskusi (näiteks Diagonal Mar) ja valige hoopis väiksemad. Me käisime kohustuslikul Primarki tuuril ja lahkusime sealt tohutu süütundega selle üle, et olime nii palju (ilmselt mõttetutele) odavatele asjadele kulutanud ja oleksime võinud aega kuskil mujal paremini kasutada. Selle asemel soovitan hoopis Maremagnumi kaubanduskeskust, mis on Kolumbuse tänava ääres. Seal on kõik toredad poed nagu Stradivarius ja Mango ja maja ise on ka lahe, seda ümbritsev vesi peegeldub ägedalt klaasist seintelt ja aatrium on meretuulele avatud. 

In terms of touristy places I wouldn't want to share any tips, because that's kind of individual. As for museums, my favourite was the Miró Foundation, but also, what you like in terms of art is also so individual. I would recommend you to walk around as much as possible. For transport, use the metro. We bought the 10 time card which is valid for any form of transportation and that was just enough for our week-long trip. 

One thing that I do recommend is going out of town to the mountains for a day. We visited the Montserrat monastery, got to ride a cable car and take in the energy of the nature that way. If you're more of a hiking and less of a "That church is the prettiest Baroque I've ever seen!" type, then go hike. 

Turistikohtade osas ei julge ma väga midagi soovitada, sest see on päris individuaalne. Muuseumitest meeldis mulle enim Miró kogu, aga jällegi, kas ja milline kunst teile meeldib on väga individuaalne. Üldiselt soovitaksin võimalikult palju ringi kõndida. Transpordi osas on kõige mõistlikum kasutada metrood. Me ostsime 10 korra kaardi, mis oli täpselt piisav meie nädalase reisikese jaoks. 

Üks asi, mida ma tõesti julgen kõigile soovitada on minna üheks päevaks linnast välja mägedesse. Me käisime Montserrat kloostris, saime köisraudteega sõita ja sel moel looduse energiat endasse ammutada. Kui olete rohkem sportlik ja vähem "Issver, see kirik on kõige ilusam barokk, mida ma kunagi näinud olen!" tüüp, siis minge matkama. Eestlase jaoks on nii võimsad mäed tõesti vägev kogemus. 

About the food - it's amazing. We kind of stumbled upon really cool places to eat and sadly I don't remember all of the names and addresses, but I'll give my best to share some nice and cheap places to eat in Barcelona. Biscuiter ice cream shop and cafe in the Gothic quarter for a little pit stop for coffee, Inercia Classic right next to Parc de la Ciutadella for amazing burgers, beer and a cool local atmosphere, Cafe Lisboa on Via Laietana for morning coffee and an amazing chocolate croissant. Also find a nice place for some tapas and sangria, we ventured to somewhere near the Rambla, but after one too many sangrias kind of forgot to mark down the name. 

Coffee deserves a whole separate chapter. We didn't step foot in a Starbucks, but chose local small coffeeshops instead. Long story short - the coffee was so good, so cheap (1.40€ for an Americano) and the people so nice. We ended up going to Cafe Lisboa for three mornings and pretending like we're locals. To be honest, I actually really miss the Spanish coffee!

Kui nüüd toidust rääkida, siis see oli imeline. Me kuidagi kogemata leidsime ägedaid söögikohti, mille nimesid ma kõiki küll ei mäleta, aga annan oma parima, et jagada teiega mõnd odavat ja lahedat kohta, kus Barcelonas süüa. Biscuiter on tore jäätisekohvik Gooti kvartalis, kus korraks kohviga keha kinnitada, Inercia Classic Parc de la Ciutadella kõrval pakkus imemaitsvaid burgereid ja mõnusat kohalikku atmosfääri, Cafe Lisboa Via Laietanal oli meie põhikoht hommikukohvi ja omg-kui-heade šokolaadisaiade jaoks. Soovitan teil leida ka mõni tore koht, kus tapast ja sangriat proovida. Me juhtusime kogemata mingisse baarikesse La Rambla kõrval, aga pärast mõnd sangriat unustasime ära koha nime meelde jätta. 

Kohv väärib omaette peatükki. Me ei käinud kordagi Starbucksis, aga valisime hoopis pisikesed kohalikud kohakesed. Ühesõnaga - kohv oli nii hea, nii odav (1.40€ ühe tõeliselt hea Americano eest) ja inimesed nii toredad. Käisime Cafe Lisboas kolmel hommikul ja tegime näod, et oleme kohalikud. Kui aus olla, siis ma tõesti igatsen Hispaania kohvi.

Postcards from Dublin

When my friends and I were choosing a place to go for our winter break budget trip, then somehow Dublin popped up. We figured that it's kind of like London, only smaller, cheaper, but more or less quite similar. We were there for five days and during that time we managed to visit just about every big tourist attraction and then some. Walking almost everywhere, we covered the city centre on foot, walking with our heads turned up to the clouds and beautiful houses all the time. 

And Dublin really is spectacular. Okay, I am a huge architecture geek, but places like Trinity College or the endless pretty bridges just steal your heart. Then all the pubs, little corner cafes and security guards walking past, whistling. All this makes for a pretty perfect city break. (And the cheap clothes of course).

Expect a lot more jetsetting/traveller of the world posts on this blog because I still have two posts from Dublin left and then a few from Stockholm, because I just can't be still in one place and after being on Tartu for a day, I went on the ferry to Sweden to see Bombay Bicycle Club. Fast forward a bit- it was awesome. 

Kui me sõpradega mõtlesime, kuhu talvevaheajal reisida võiks, jäi millegipärast Dublin sõelale. Arvasime vist, et see on natuke nagu London, ainult väiksem, odavam, aga laias laastus sarnane. Olime seal viis päeva ja selle aja jooksul nägime ära pea kõik suuremad ja väiksemad turistiatraktsioonid. Kõndisime peaaegu igale poole ja kesklinnas jalutamise saime päris hästi selgeks, mis sest, et pead olid pilvede ja imeilusate majakatuste poole pööratud. 

Dublin on tõesti võrratu. Olen küll meeletu arhitektuurinohik, aga kohad nagu Trinity College või kõik need lõpmatult armsad sillakesed panevad südame kiiremini põksuma. Siis veel kodused pubid, väikesed nurgakohvikud ja vahvalt vilistavad turvamehed. Kõik see muudab ühe linnaga tutvumise väga toredaks. (Ja odavad riided ka loomulikult.)

Lähiajal võite oodata veel mitut sellist turistimat postitust, sest lisaks kahele postitusele Dublinist, on mul järjekorras ka veel pildid Stockholmist. Tundub, et enam ei suuda ma ühe koha peal kaua paigal püsida, sest olles Iirimaalt koju jõudnud, olin Tartus pisut rohkem kui 24 tundi ja läksin juba uuesti laeva peale, sest Rootsis esines Bombay Bicycle Club ja minul oli pilet. Kiire kokkuvõte- see oli lahe!

Bowtie Diary goes to Riga

Last Saturday I went on a shopping trip to Riga with my mom and aunt. It was a much-needed break from everyday life, just a small bus-trip to the capital of our Southern neighbours. We spent the day wandering around the old town with no purpose at all. Our only real destination was to see the beautiful Art Nouveau buildings, which Riga is so famous for. They were absolutely lovely, I would love to live in one of them!

Of course we also checked out their very first H&M shop an we certainly didn't leave empty-handed. A lot of time was also spent at other shops in the beautiful Galleria shopping centre (it really is beautiful, spacious and light!), so when we got back to the bus, we were so tired from carrying around all those shopping bags!

It was a nice day, full of laughs and goofing around. Just the perfect little getaway that I had dreamt of. Enjoy these extremely touristy pictures, guys! The selection includes- buildings, me and Pushkin, just me, and a little photobooth fun, which somehow just happened!

Eelmisel laupäeval käisin oma ema ja tädiga Riias väikesel ostlemisreisil. Tore bussireis lõunanaabrite pealinna oli täpselt selline põgenemine rutiinist nagu mulle vaja oli. Veetsime päeva vanalinnas täiesti sihitult ringi jalutades. Meie ainus eesmärk oli näha imeilusaid juugendmaju, mille poolest Riia nii kuulus on. Need olid tõeliselt vapustavad ja nendes elada oleks täielik unistus! 

Loomulikult külastasime ka lätlaste esimest H&M'i  (mis teadagi on kõigi eestlaste lemmikpood) ja ei lahkunud sealt sugugi tühjade kätega. Šoppasime nende ilusas Galleria keskuses ka (see on tõesti ilus, hästi ruumikas ja valgusküllane), nii et kui bussile tagasi jõudsime, olime täiesti väsinud! 

Üleüldse oli see üks tore päev, täis naeru ja lollitamist. Nagu ma ütlesin, oli see täpselt selline väike reisike, mida ma olin nii kaua igatsenud. Nautige neid võrratuid turistipilte, mille hulgas on: majad, Puškin ja mina, lihtsalt mina ja lõpetuseks meie vahva Photobooth'i seeria, mis kuidagi lihtsalt juhtus.

Санкт-Петербург, я тебя люблю!

* St.Petersburg, I love you.

As I wrote in my last post, I spent the past weekend in St.Petersburg with my class and I can surely say that I fell completely in love with that city! It was all I had hoped and dreamed of and more! We visited some truly magical castles and gardens and almost every step oozed with the grace and royalty of the Russian Empire.
Being a proper tourist, I took pictures of everything important (which also includes about 10 fountains in Peterhof). I only took my old film-camera with me and sadly, some of the pictures didn't turn out that great. I hope you enjoy these stunning views of my new favourite city and maybe consider this city as your next travel destination! If I could, I'd go back in a minute.

Nagu ma oma eelmises postituses mainisin, käisin nädalavahetusel klassiga Peterburis. Võin täiesti kindlalt öelda, et ma armusin sellesse linna täielikult ära. Me külastasime imeilusaid losse ja aedu ja kõigest hõngus tsaaririigiaegset kuninglikkust. 
Olles loomulikult täielik turist, tegin ma kõigest olulisest pilti. Samas, võtsin kaasa ainult oma vana filmikaamera, et liiga palju ei klõpsutaks. Kahjuks mõned päris lahedad pildid ei tulnud välja, aga ma loodan, et teile meeldivad needki vaated minu uuest lemmiklinnast! Kui see võimalik oleks, läheksin kohe tagasi.

Holiday pics

I'm baaaack! This post is all about the trip, pictures and everything. I decided to use the ones I took with my phone, I hope you don't mind the quality..  A lot of the pictures include pretty architecture, I just couldn't help it. The Scandinavians sure know how to build beautiful houses.

Olen oma reisilt tagasi!! Panin kokku ühe suure postituse piltidega oma reisist. Need on kõik tehtud mu telefoniga, seega ma loodan, et te ei pane pahaks seda kvaliteeti. Ma tegin tohutult palju pilte lihtsalt ilusatest majadest, aga enda õigustuseks võin öelda, et skandinaavlased ikka oskavad maju ehitada.

Our first stop was Kalmar, with its beautiful castle and a really cute old town.
Esimene peatus oli Kalmar. Seal on maagiliselt ilus loss ja hästi armas vanalinn ka. Linn ise meenutas natuke Pärnut, ei teagi miks..

 The next day we went to Denmark and firstly, Copenhagen. We visited the Carlsberg museum, which was a lot more fun than I had expected and we also went on the canal tour. I loved all the little bridges and amazing houses next to the canals. Coming back to the hotel, we bought coffee and macaroons!

Järgmisel päeval jõudsime Kopenhagenisse. Külastasime Carlsbergi muuseumit, mis oli tegelikult palju põnevam, kui ma arvasin. Et ühe päevaga linnale ring peale teha, käisime väikesel kanalituuril. Nägime kõik põhilised kohad ära ja saime Kopenhagenist mingis mõttes ülevaate. Mulle tohutult meeldisid kõik väikesed sillakesed ja imeilusad majad kanalite ääres.

 Kronborg castle was also amazing. It was so regal and aristocratic. In Roskilde, I visited the Dome Church which is the burial ground for many Danish kings and queens and it was just as majestic as it should be with its greatness and spectacular Gothic shape.

Järjekordne loss, mida külastasime oli Kronborgi loss või siis Hamleti loss. See oli hästi suursugune ja kuninglik ja tõepoolest ilus. Rostockis käisin Toomkirikus, kuhu oli maetud palju Taani kuningapere  liikmeid ja seisusele vastavalt oli ka kirik väga uhke. Kämpingus oli vahva batuut!

 This amazing courtyard was also in Copenhagen. It was kind of a passage, with windows overlooking it. I don't know what I'd do for an apartment in that building.

See imeline siseõu oli ka Kopenhagenis. See oli nagu käik kahe tänava vahel. Omada korterit selles majas oleks päris mõnus.

 On our forth day we went to Legoland! It's just amazing what can be built from little Lego blocks. There were huge statues, big cities with boats and trains and everything. There was even a Star Wars corner! Also, during the whole trip, I kind of overindulged on ice-cream and spent half of the evenings playing a Lego board-game with my sister and nephew.

Neljandal päeval käisime Legolandis! See tundus ikka päris uskumatu, mida väikestest klotsidest on võimalik valmis meisterdada. Seal olid terved linnad liikuvate paatide ja rongidega, hiiglaslikud kujud ja muidugi ka Star Warsile pühendatud nurgake.Muide, terve reisi jooksul ma sõin ikka väga palju jäätist ja paljud õhtud veetsin õe ja tädipojaga ühte vahvat Lego lauamängu mängides.

 Before returning to Sweden, we went to the beach, had a picnic and walked bare feet in the sand. And ate ice-cream. Right near the port was even a local palm beach, believe it or not. It would be great to spend a few days there and pretend to be in the Caribbean.

Enne Rootsisse tagasi minemist käisime veel rannas piknikul. Muidugi sõime jäätist ka. Muide, otse sadama kõrval oli palmirand, uskuge või mitte.

 Gothenburg was just as great as Copenhagen. Pretty houses, beautiful people and great ice-cream. Since it was the first day with warmer weather, I took the opportunity to wear my new bowtie flip-flops from Sarenza.

Göteborg oli täpselt sama ilus kui Kopenhagen. Kõik majad olid nii ilusad ja inimesed hästi toredad. Kuna see oli esimene vähegi sooja ilmaga päev, siis otsustasin kanda oma uusi lipsukestega plätusid Sarenzast.

 We finally properly went shopping in Stockholm and then had to leave for the boat and wave goodbye to Sweden. My buys are on the last picture: two printed skirts, a floral top and white shorts. All are from H&M, except the shorts, which are from Lindex.

Alles Stockholmis käisime korralikult šoppamas, siis pidi juba laevale minema ja Rootsile tekilt lehvitama. Minu ostud on viimasel pildil, kõik peale lühikeste pükste on H&Mst.

This is another scheduled post for my trip. Hope you liked the guest-posts! I recently got my lomo film developed and I dicscovered these two outfit photos on it. They were taken on the night of Eurovision in the end of May, but I'm wearing practically the same outfit in Denmark. So it's kind of an early outfitpost from my trip.

See on järjekordne ette postitatud sissekanne. Sain hiljuti oma lomo filmi ilmutatud ja leidsin sealt need kaks toredat outifit'i pilti. Teigime need Eurovisiooni õhtul, mis oli mais ,aga kannan ilmselt Taanis ka sarnaseid riideid. Seega on see nagu väga varajane postitus mu reisist.

Day trip to Helsinki

Two Door Cinema Club- Come Back Home

(been listening my old favourites lately, listened to this band a lot last spring..)

 

As I told you in my previous post, I visited Helsinki on Thursday with Getter and Kaisa. I think that our main idea was just to enjoy the city and the fact that it's summer and that school's over. We visited a flea market, the contemporary art museum Kiasma (which was oh-so-cool) and of course went shopping. At the end of the day, I arrived home with sore feet, shopping bags and a smile on my face. Going abroad, even if for just a day, was exactly what I needed.

If you're wondering what I bought myself, then I can tell you that you'll definitely see my buys in the upcoming posts, but I got two shirts, a shoulder bag, a bracelet and this ear-cuff.
The vest I'm wearing was bought at the flea market from Helsinki, but it's actually Getter's. We both liked it and couldn't decide which of us should get it, so we both paid for half of it and decided at the end of the day, that the vest is hers. But she kindly let me wear it for the pictures. I'm also wearing the ear-cuff I got. Also, since the pictures are taken on the ship when we came back and it was incredibly windy, then my hair is in a funky top-bun. Altogether, this is a pretty basic, but very comfortable outfit for a day of shopping (I was also wearing a sweater and the parka, but you'll see that outfit some other time).

Käisin neljapäeval sõpsidega Soomes. Meil tegelikult mingit täiesti kindlat tegutsemisplaani polnud, kuid lõpuks käisime Kiasmas, ühel kirbuturul ja šoppamas. Päeva lõpuks olin muidugi kogu sellest kõndimisest tohutult väsinud, aga õnnelik sellegipoolest. Selline väike välisreis oli täpselt see, mida vajasin.
Soomest ostsin endale mõned pluusid, ühe armsa koti, käevõru ja ear-cuffi.
Selle vesti ostsime Getteriga kahepeale Helsingi kirbuturult. Kuna meile mõlemale see väga meeldis ja me ei suutnud otsustada, kumb selle endale peaks saama, siis maksime pooleks ja päeva lõpuks jäi vest siiski Getterile. Aga ta lubas mul lahkelt seda piltidel kanda. Muidugi pidin kohe kasutusele võtma ka oma uue ear-cuffi ja käevõru. Tegelikult olin ma palju soojemalt riides, kuna suvi pole end ju veel ilmutanud.
Loodetavasti oli teil kõigil tore nädalavahetus ja nautisite jalgpalli !! :)

Island trip part 2 - Hiiumaa ( and a little bit of Saaremaa )

Here's the last batch of pictures of my trip.
On the third day we went hiking on Vilsandi, but all I would have to show you are nature views( and hiking clothes, but c'mon..).
The fourth day took us (thrift)shopping to Kuressaare. I got myself a really pretty skirt that I'm sure you'll see soon and also the bowtie bracelet from one of my previous posts.

Family portrait taken with my lomo at a spot where land ends and the sea takes over. It was crazy windy in there and waves came from both sides.

At Kõpu lighthouse, one of the biggest in Estonia. It was even windier in there so I had to hold my skirt and my hat all the time..

Vanajõe valley was a really sweet place. The river in the bottom of the valley was really curvy and fun to watch. And there were also blueberries which just happen to be my favourites.

Angla windmills at Saaremaa. These are also things that you can find scattered all over Estonia, but the are still interesting. Of course I had to climb to every single one just to realize that they all looked the same inside. :)
